3. The State Visit Sir, King Francis of France is visiting King Henry to discuss an Alliance against King Charles V of the Holy Roman Empire. The King wishes to receive King Francis at a feast and banquet at Hampton Court Palace on the first of June 1535. Please make sure that all the state chambers are made ready, the kitchens are fully staffed, sufficient food is ordered and that a great feast is prepared for his Majesty, the Court and Royal Guests. The King and King Francis will arrive by Royal Barge at mid day and expect to stay for four days. King Francis’s advisors have informed me that the guest party will be 300 persons, including Prince Henry, Dauphin of Viennois and Prince Charles, Duke of Orléans.
