Aim: Create a short animated film based on your favourite book character that will encourage other people to read the book Learn new digital skills Earn a Digital Proficiency certificate for your Record of Achievement Have something great to put on your CV and job applications HAVE FUN!!

What makes a good animated film? Have a think about what makes a good animated film. What did you like? Didn’t like? Write these qualities onto post-it notes and then stick them on the wall so that you don’t forget!

Bring your favourite book character to life! Think about your favourite book character...what’s the best way to bring them to life? You could use: Plasticine Toys Puppets Lego Anything else you can think of!

Character Characteristics! Will your character be... fast/slow? big/small? funny/serious? loud/quiet? (if he/she even speaks at all!) what will they look like? what will they wear? Plan your character on a sheet of paper and start to build your character’s identity.

Storyboard Every film needs a storyboard to help you plan your story. Take a sheet of A3 paper, divide it into 9 boxes, and create a scene by scene storyboard with pictures, explanations and a script.

NEXT WEEK! Make your characters or choose what you would like to use from a selection of soft toys/figures. Build your film set/scenery – don’t forget that your characters and film set will need to be to scale. And if there’s time...start filming!
