2 The Forbidden City Built 1406-1420 Consists of 980 buildings Located in the center of Beijing Was the Chinese imperial palace from the Ming Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty For 500 years it served as the home of emperors and their household Since 1925, it has been under the charge of the Palace Museum

3 The Great Wall of China 6700km from east to west 12m high Made of stone, brick, mud, and wood 1,000,000 people out of a population of 5,000,000 people helped to make it The people that died making it are enclosed in the walls Protected China from invasion Reconstructed during the Ming Dynasty 1 of the 7 wonders of the ancient world Can be seen from space

4 Terracotta Army “Terracotta warriors and horses” is a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the armies of the first emperors of China Discovered on March 29, 1974 They are replicas of what the imperial guard should look like in those days Was made to protect the emperors tomb Life-size statues No 2 are exactly alike There were 8000 soldiers, 150 life-size horses and 130 chariots with 520 horses buried with the army

5 Grand Canal Longest canal or artificial river in the world Famous tourist attraction Starts in Beijing and ends in Hangzhou 1776km long 42m deep Invented in the 10 th century during the song dynasty
