Vacations Project Objective: To practice utilizing a budget to fund a dream vacation. Students will develop a travel brochure to express their vacation to the class.

Vacations Project Instructions In groups of 3-4 you will plan a vacation for a, “family of four” ON A BUDGET! Your group will draw a budget for your vacation at random. Your group can plan a camping trip, road trip, cruise, or plane trip but you must stay within your budget.

What will you do? As a group you will create a travel brochure detailing the location of your trip and the activities that it offers.

Who will do what? Each team member will be responsible for the following for the trip: 1. Attractions and Events 2. Lodging and Transportation 3. Food 4. Itinerary with expense breakdown

How much time will you have? You will have 1 day in the classroom to prepare AND Two (2) days in the computer lab to research and create your brochure.

Grade Requirements 1.Vacation planning in class 2.Printing a Travel Brochure 3.Completing all 6 panel requirements of the brochure.

What should I budget for? Budget Requirements: Transportation costs: train, plane, or bus and/or car and gas for road trips Gas: account for an average of 28 mpg at a rate of $4.00 per gallon Use Google maps to calculate distance Flight cost Cruse tickets costs Campsite fee Lodging costs Hotel, RV, Tents, Cruise Ship, etc. (What does it look like? Does it have a view?) Food: Groceries, Snacks, eating out (restaurants) Attractions and Events: Shows, concerts, museums, etc. (What are you going to do while on vacation?)
