A lesson for a class which will be learning about the Electronic Instrument Systems of Modern Aircraft. Back to Overview

High technology in modern aircraft has turned all instrumentation in the cockpit into an electronic system. All information to the pilot is presented on Computer Display Screens. Back to Overview

Following a power-point presentation, and after seeing a video, students will discuss with the teacher the standards used inside aircraft cockpits for instrument layouts Key Content Words from the technical vocabulary includes aircraft, computer display, aircraft instruments, pilot, co-pilot, aircraft systems, aircraft cockpit The scaffolding used will mainly be based on work sheets with pictures of cockpit instrument layouts and an online CALL unit where they can click on all words and look them up in dictionaries.scaffolding Back to Overview

The Learners will use and acquire several Cognitive Skills they will:Cognitive Skills Understand the instrument systems inside an aircraft. Be familiar with the layout of instruments found inside an aircraft cockpit. Remember key vocabulary and use it to describe the instrument layout of an aircraft. Through the activities use both HOTS & LOTS – Higher Order Thinking Skills & Lower Order Thinking Skills, See Bloom’s Wheel, i.e. from understanding through the study of the instrument layouts found in modern aircraftHOTS & LOTS Bloom’s Wheel Back to Overview

Can Dos: Be familiar with aircraft cockpit instrument layout Recognize the type of instrument at a given location Identify the most important information presented to a pilot on an aircraft Distinguish between flight instruments and system instruments Back to Overview

One career a vocational student can take is as a technician in the aircraft maintenance industry Being familiar with the instrument layouts found inside a modern aircraft cockpit will help a person: Start being prepared for the use of computers used for modern aircraft maintenance Start getting ready to identify instrumentation which is also used to give test results during maintenance and testing of aircraft systems Back to Overview

Back to OverviewBack to Cognition We have to remember a concept before we can understand it. We have to understand a concept before we can apply it. We have to be able to apply a concept before we analyze it. We have to analyze a concept before we can evaluate it. We have to remember, understand, apply, analyze, and evaluate a concept before we can create.
