2.  Is an infectious disease that has been around since ancient times. The disease causes skin sores and nerve damage in the arms and legs. The disease is present still in select locations in Africa and Asia.

3.  When one contracts leprosy, it first effects the nerves, then once the nerves are damaged, the epithelial surface becomes deformed. EXAMPLES: Sores, bumps, body parts deteriorate.

4.  Main symptoms of leprosy is: skin sores, lumps, bumps. Severe pains due to nerve damage, muscle weakness or even paralysis. Nosebleeds and ulcers on the feet.

5.  Leprosy is caused by a slow growing type of bacteria that is called “mycobacterium Leprae”. The bacteria moves so slow that signs of leprosy do not even show up until five years after contracting it.

6.  Leprosy is a disease that can be cured. If someone contracts leprosy, they are placed under a six month treatment. Medications include dapsone and rifampicin. Which are anti-bacterial medicine.

7. The worst part of Leprosy is that if it is left untreated, your conditions can only get worse and worse. After your arms and legs are infected, you lose feeling in your face, and develop sores on them. You can eventually even be paralyzed. But overall the worst part is you cannot die.

8.  Leprosy is also knowns as Hansen’s disease  Only existant cases are reported in Africa, and some places in Asia  It spreads much like the common cold. Through contact with other people.
