2 Mouse A mouse moves the cursor/pointer on the computer screen. To click anywhere on the screen, press the LEFT side button on the mouse. Sometimes you have to double click on the LEFT side of the mouse or even single click on the right side.

3 Keyboard A keyboard is used to type information onto the computer screen. A keyboard contains different keys such as letters, numbers, and other special buttons. In order to use the keys on the keyboard, you have to press down on the keys that you want to show up on the computer screen.

4 Monitor A monitor looks like a TV screen which displays information on the screen.

5 Speakers Speakers let a person listen to music or videos on the computer. In order to use the speakers turn the knob to on.

6 Microphone A microphone is used to talk to people through the computer. You hold the microphone up to your mouth and talk into it.

7 Headphones Headphones can be used when listening to music or videos on the computer. They go over your head and they cover your ears. They are used so that people around you can’t hear what you are listening to or watching. They are plugged into a special place on the computer.

8 Power Button The first thing you should do is turn on the computer. You turn on the computer by pressing the power button which looks like the picture above.

9 Central Processing Unit (CPU) or a System Unit A CPU is normally a rectangular box. It is known as the brain or the most important part of the computer. Without the CPU the computer wouldn’t function or work.

10 Floppy Disk A floppy disk saves data or information. It is a form of storage.

11 CD A CD is a circular disk that holds data or information. It is also a form of storage like the floppy disk. It can also be a form of music or a game played on the computer.

12 Printer A printer lets a person type a paper on the computer and then they can print their paper or picture out. It transfers information from the computer to paper.

13 Scanner A scanner scans images, handwriting, objects, text and other things to make a digital image of that specific thing onto the computer screen. It transfers paper images to the computer.
