Our City We come from the city, called Urfa or Edessa Which is between Europhrates and Tigris, Mesopotamia, by Syrian border, Where the Turkish, Kurdish and Arabic cultures intervened, Where the İslam, Cristianity and Judaism came across,

Our City Şanlıurfa (Edessa) is the city where Prophet Abraham was born, Şanlıurfa (Edessa) is the city which was blessed by Prophet Crist (Jesus), Şanlıurfa (Edessa) is known to be “the city of Prophets” as many prophets lived here.

Turkish Education System Turkish education system contains four levels(steps).

Turkish Education System 1. Pre-school education: It is mainly fort he children between 3 and 6, it is nor cumpulsory, it has a standart curriculum which is put into practice all along the country.

Turkish Education System 2. Primary education is for the children between 6 and 14, and compulsory for everyone for 7 years, it has a standart curriculum which is put into practice all along the country, it is free of charge, shool books are also suppled by the state.

Turkish Education System 3. Secondary education is for the students between 15-19, and takes 4 years, it is not compulsory, besides Lyseum and Gymnaseums, there are also vocational high schools, each of these secondary schools have their standart curriculum, most of these seconday school accept their students according to the results of the exams which are held at 6 th, 7 th and 8 th classes of primary schools.

Turkish Education System 4. Student graduaded from secondary schools have to get and an exam called University Enterance Exam, student are accepted to different higher educational institutions according to the result of this exam.

School Management in Turkey Except for higher educational institutions, schools in Turkey (Pre- primary, Primary and secondary schools) have similar management processes and structure.

School Management in Turkey All kind of schools are directed by schools headmasters and parent associations, headmasters are appointed by the state and have to be a teacher.

School Management at Regional Level (according to the hierarchical level) 1. Provincial Educational Director is the head of the educational system at regional level, they are appointed by the central goverment. Our Educational Director is here. Mr. Hanifi ŞAHİN.

School Management at Regional Level (according to the hierarchical level) 2. Inspectors of Education work on behalf of regional governor and regional educational director, they are choosen among teachers with at least 8 years experience, they are choosen via a specific written and oral exam and work for 3 years as inspector trainees, by the end of these training period, they get another exam to be an inspector. They are mainly responsible of inspection and supervision of the school systems, educational research and in service training courses towards teachers.

School Management at Regional Level (according to the hierarchical level) 3. Educational deputy managers are the assistant of the provincial educational director, they are appointed by the central goverment.

School Management at Regional Level (according to the hierarchical level) 4. Educational deputy juniar managers are the assistant of the provincial educational director, do the works given by the directorate, they are also appointed by the central goverment.

Structure of Ministry Minister: The educational minister is responsible to prime minister and the parliament. Educational secretary of state: Secretary of state is the assistant of minister, appointed by minister and goverment. General managers: They are appointed by goverment with the offer of minister. Head of department: They are appointed by the goverment with the offer of minister. Branch manager: They are appointed by the goverment with the offer of minister.

Our Instution We have 93 inspectors, six civil servant and a principal. Our principal is here at the moment, Mr. Yusuf KIR, Our Insector Mr. Mahmut ERASLAN; Adult trainer teacher Mr. Abdülkerim YAVUZ, Adult student Mr. Serdar EKMEN AND Mrs. Hülya KAHRAMAN USTA and I am Mehmet Emin USTA (Inspector, Contact person).

About Us The Directorate of National Education Chairman of Primary School Inspectors is organised to plan, programme, manage, supervise, improve and evaluate the duties of The Ministry of National Education at cities and towns, and keeps its presence according to the Constitution, laws and other related procedures. The Directorate of National Education serve on management, personnel, education, budget, investment, statistics, investigation, guidance, strategy development, culture, etc.

About Us There is a The Directorate of National Education Chairman of Educational Inspectors in each town related with the directorate of province national education. There is a guidance research center and art science centre in city center, a public education centre both in city centre and towns, and in some towns Vocational Training Centres. Our institution has 20 pre-primary schools, 10 primary schools, 93 secondary schools, 15.000 teachers, 524.000 students, 12 public education centre (for adult students). There are 5 codirectors, 6 branch directors, 1 chairman 93 inspectors of education. We are public and non-profit instution. We are in disadvantaged area, because some adult students are unemployed and disabled persons.

About Us -At our public education centres and vocational training centres we train about the following: - Business and human relations - Musical Instruments courses - Language courses - Education techniques - Project preparation trainings - Employment courses - ICT technologies courses - Adaptation courses for new teachers.

About Us İn our City all schools can use ICT. Because we have ADSL system and Satellite connect.

About Us -In our country ICT lesson not compulsory. Because very widesprad. -We have 253 ICT Classrooms in our province. -New teachers have to use ICT, because all information about teaching, examnations and their personel informations on ICT. So, we can give some courses for new teachers. But theese coureses not compulsory. -Our National formal ICT system known as Ilsis and MEBBIS.

About Us Especially, we are training new teachers about adaptation to our education system and new approaches and strategies on education and training. “The management of conflicts in educational institutions, the management of time, the management of meeting, new strategies” are among our topics for new teachers. All new teachers are adult learners.

About Us Our Topics for new teachers: -Adaptation to our city. -Adaptation to new profession. -Professional Law. -New strategy and methods about training. Important Note: We will give theese topics in addition in univercity education. All teachers are university graduates and should take at least 4 years of university education. Even some department of teachers can be graduated in 5,5 years. Teachers are trained by the Inspectors, when began the profession. It takes all long life as in-service training activities. Our role is very important, because we are adult tariners.

Şanlıurfa is a city which is located in the South-east of Turkey, the population of the city is around 400 thousands, it is mainly famous for historical and cultural beauties. The earliest mosaics of Amozon female fighters is in Şanlıurfa. Birds of Kelaynak which is about to extinct are also in Şanlıurfa. Cotton, corn, pepper are the main farming products which are grown in Şanlıurfa. The bigest hydro electirical power station is also in Şanlıurfa. Turkish, Arabic and Kurdish are the main languages spoken by the people living in Şanlıurfa.
