Emergency Telecommunications Services (ETS)  Need to extend A/IN-based and switch-based priority services defined for ETS calls to NGN and open APIs  Several countries have sponsored programs over the past 15 years to ensure standards and implementation programs for ETS –Canada: Line Load Control to deliver priority dialtone –USA: GETS –Japan: “I Am Alive” via web site registration  Details: http://www.iepscheme.nethttp://www.iepscheme.net –Vernon Mosley’s presentation to the Parlay group at San Diego, 5/23/01  See http://www.parlay.org –Calling_Party_Category parameter for call control –See also IETF Drafts and Recommendation E106 at www.iepscheme.net

8 Ravi Jain / 26-Apr-01/ 8 Copyright ©2001 Telcordia Technologies. All Rights Reserved. Impact of ETS on NGN APIs  Need to handle new types of communication (data, email, video, multimedia), new types of networks (wireless, packet) and technology (protocols, architectures)  These requirements impact Call Control and Policy Management  Also likely to impact Mobility, PAM, Charging and Framework (e.g. for location-based service, accounting bypass, security, etc.)  Proposal: a focus group to generate initial requirements survey and feed into Parlay 4 Requirements process and working groups  Web site: http://www.argreenhouse.com/ngnetshttp://www.argreenhouse.com/ngnets  Email exploder set up
