4Personal Health Record Purpose of PHR The goal of the PHR is to improve the health of IHS patients through: –improved patient/provider collaboration –patient self-management –increased access to health information 4

5Personal Health Record Benefits of PHR Research shows that when consumers actively participate in their own care, their outcomes are better. –Patients twice as likely to receive suggested routing screening –Improves health communication –Patients perception of quality increases –Decreased no show rates –Time and cost saving for providers 5
