A domain name is an identification that defines a administrative autonomy, authority or control within the Internet. Domain names are formed by the rules and procedures of the Domain Name System (DNS).

Domain names serve as names for Internet resources such as computers, networks, and services. A domain name represents an Internet Protocol (IP) resource.

top-level domains (TLDs) are like.com,.net and.org are the highest level of domain names of the Internet.

second-level domain (SLD) names are like.co,.uk.

third-level domains, are like.sos,.state,.oh,.us.
