Notes #1 (1.1 & 1.2) 1-1 Points, Lines, and Planes 1-2 Linear Measure and Precision Standard 1.0: Students demonstrate understanding by identifying and giving examples of undefined terms. Objective: Identify and model points, lines, and planes Identify collinear and coplanar points and intersecting lines and planes in space. Identify segments and compute with measures
2
Definitions Point: has no size. Think “a dot” Space: is the set of all points Undefined Terms : are terms that can only be explained using examples and descriptions.
3
Line: a series of points that extends without end in two directions. Collinear pointsNon-collinear points A B AB reads line AB reads line t t Points that lay on a line Points that don’t lay on a line.
4
Plane: is a flat surface that is two dimensional, it also extends without end. Coplanar: Points and lines in the same plane P plane P A B C plane ABC

Line segment (segment): is a line with endpoints. Endpoints AB Name the segment AB or BA
10
Point M is between points P and Q if and only if P, Q and M are collinear Segment Addition Segment Subtraction PM + MQ = PQQR = MR – MQ
