6. 1.Housekeeping – Turn off lights in unoccupied areas:  Incandescent lights that aren’t needed.  Fluorescent lights when they’ll be off for at least 15 minutes.  High-intensity discharge (HID) lights when they’ll be off for at least an hour. What can we do?

7. 1.Housekeeping (cont’d) – Clean dirty lamps, lenses and light- reflecting surfaces:  Dust and grease can reduce lighting by as much as 30 percent.  Clean fixtures every two years at least (more often in greasy, dusty or smoky places, especially when they’re part of an HVAC system). What can we do?

8. 2. Low-cost opportunities – Reduce light in overlit areas:  Look at places like storage areas, hallways and meeting rooms that don’t need to be lit all the time. What can we do?
