4 2007 – 2008 Season Very successful season with 38 Primary schools and 6 Secondary school participating in the online leagues The KS2 Bradford Champions were Margaret McMillan The KS3 Bradford Champions were Beckfoot Grammar The KS4 Bradford Champions were Titus Salt School Margaret McMillan reached the National Finals and finished 4th We held two successful F2F races; one winter and one summer.

5 2008 – 2009 Season 47 Primary schools have registered to take part this season Top 4 schools in the league qualify for the Bradford Final plus 3 schools from a play off. 6 Secondary schools have registered and they will all qualify for the Bradford Final if they participate in 3 or more online races Teacher’s league?

6 There are 3 age banded competitions

7 Organisation The curriculum ICT team will provide training and support for all schools through Challenge CLC and Greenhead CLC. All schools will be placed in online leagues and the top teams in the league will compete against each other to produce a Bradford Champion. The Bradford Champions at each KS will be entered into the National Final Race. All initial training will be at the CLCs and will take place in September. An Education Bradford Consultant will be available to support all schools where possible. Most support will be via and the website.

8 Extras Schools supported with developing blogs, videoblogs and podcasts using ‘Honeycomb’ Training opportunities for Honeycomb will be in November. The Bradford final will contain winners from the leagues and the top 3 cars in the play off. We are working on sponsorship and the possibility of a Karting day out as a prize. 9 The time Scale Training Online races Winter F2F Online races School Finals Reg Finals Nat Final Summer F2F Sept 2008 Oct - Dec 2008 Dec. 2008 Jan - Mar 2009 Apr - May 2009 May 2009 June 2009 June 2009 Online Races will be run approximately every 3 weeks from October through to March.

11 A more detailed look. Each team consists of 4 pupils (KS2) & 2 pupils(KS3 & KS4). Each team has to prepare a grand prix car for a chosen circuit and weather conditions. The track has to be measured and categorised. The car has to be tuned. Optimum speeds have to be set for each area of the track. A race plan has to be put together to decide on tyre changes, refuelling, etc. The car is submitted for the race.

15 The Track Plan Using string, calculate length of track
Using the key on the Track Plan, decide what each feature is by…… Estimating, then measuring each STRAIGHT and, using the scale, decide if it is a long, medium or short straight 2. Estimating, then measuring the angle on each BEND and, using templates/protractor, decide whether it is a long, medium or tight bend. TAKE NO NOTICE OF WHAT THE TRACK DOES. Extend the lines until they cross and measure this angle

23 New features for Ability to save your car data to an external destination so that you can have multiple saves of your car as you progress to revert back to. KS3 and KS4 will be using the ‘Rule 4’ for fuel consumption as the season progresses. More video tutorials on how to use the software and tips on getting best performance Video tutorials to support the pupils use of mathematical skills and concepts required to create a competitive car.

27 Setting up drivers and exporting cars
Please ensure that the team name for your car contains the school name. The driver’s names can be anything within reason. Set up a separate team for each of the groups of children who are building a car. When exporting your car to me choose the fastest car in your school for that race and ensure the file is labelled as using the following format Race1-school-league. For example Parkwood school would be Race1ParkwoodSenna
