EVERYTHING IS GETTING BIGGER EXCEPT THE STREETS AND RIGHTS-OF-WAYS!

4 Options  No Build (Leave as Status Quo) or  Establish Uniform Minimum Standards

5 Proposed Minimum Standards Based on:  AASHTO, A Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, 2004)  City of Morgantown Fire Dept. Equipment  Republic Services Equipment  Transit and School Buses  Public Works Plow and Spreader Equipment

6 Proposed Minimum Standards ONE-WAY STREETS  No Parking – Less than 17ft  Parking One Side – Less than 24 feet  Parking Both Sides – 24 feet or More

7 Proposed Minimum Standards TWO-WAY STREETS  No Parking – Less than 19ft  Parking One Side – Less than 26 feet  Parking Both Sides – 26 feet or More

8 Pro  Quicker Emergency Response  Better Essential Serves (i.e. Garbage, Ice/Snow Removal, Sweeping, etc…)  Better Access During Large Athletic/Entertainment Events.  More Efficient Transit/School Bus Service  More Objective Establishing Standards

9 Con  Less Available On-Street Parking  Cost of Applying Yellow/Blue Curb and Signage  Increased Maintenance Cost

10 Addressing Reduced Available On- Street Parking  Establishing Parking Districts (Blue Curb Parking Areas)  Working with Property Owners  Implementing On-Street Parking to Maximize Available Spaces
