2 Why is taking action to grow membership so vital in today’s PTA? Less members = less voice

3 PTA is the premiere child advocacy association charged with the responsibility for speaking up for children and promoting their welfare in home, school, and community. The more people speaking up the louder our voices will be.

4 Membership gives you the voice to speak out on behalf of all children. Membership is the life line of PTA no members no PTA What are some of the primary reasons for continuous decline in membership?

5 So what does PTA have to offer? Ongoing Training Access to experts Established network Organizational support Programs, resources, guidance Links to other like- minded people Reflections Member benefits & discounts Corporate sponsors 501©(3) status Combined voice Leaderhip development National and state recognition programs

6 PTA fought for: Kindergarten Safe buses and seatbelt regulations A nationwide school lunh program Improved playground safety School libraries Mandatory childhood immunizations This is PTA Advocacy and voice!!!

7 Five Steps to a Successful Campaign

8 Step 1: analyze your PTA Why do people join your PTA, and how can you appeal to a wider audience

9 Step2: set goals Make sure they are realistic ant attainable. What is your desired outcome

10 Look at different ways to accomplish your goals. Look at what audience you want to reach. Look at doing a neighborhood campaign get the principal on board, extend you reach Step3: Explore strategies

11 Step4: Develop plans for specific audience Family, teachers, students, principal & administration, student & School board, community leader & businesses, Elected Officials, potential partners.past PTA members grandparents, Pta Life members, non-english speakers,, single parents, younger parents, Men. Identify your target audience, create a campaign that appeals to why they would want to join PTA. Who are your target audience?

12 Step5: Retain members & renew membership Communication, relevancy, membership cards, inclusion
