When students are able to interact they learn from one another.

Must have teacher recommendation from homeroom teacher
Students must turn in at least 85% of their homework assignments
Students must have parent/guardian permission to be participate in enrichment program
Student must have a B- or better in Citizenship

9. Second Year Art Students
Must be an eighth grade second year art student
Must have two letters of recommendation from core subject teachers
Students must have parent/guardian permission to be participate in enrichment program
Student must have a C- or better in all classes
Student must have a B- or better in Citizenship

This book offers essential tools to foster to speak of as “community.”

16. Edible Color Wheel Project
Lesson Objectives: 
Students will explore color mixing - review primary and secondary colors
- intermediate (or tertiary colors) colors.
Students will work cooperatively to complete and assignment
- further explore mixing tints - shades - color planning - complementary colors

17. Accommodations
Students who are unfamiliar with the Color Wheel can be given a copy of an already completed Color Wheel to refer to.
Students who are unable to read colors may need color words written in that specific color ink.
Example: PURPLE
Students who have difficulty with fine motor tasks may need to use plastic spoons to spread frosting onto each wafer.

18. Matisse Name Collage Project
Lesson Objective:
The student will refer to the artwork of Henri Matisse to create their name with shape and color representing their personality, applying symbolism in the background to represent their interests.

20. Accommodations
Type students’ names in different types of fonts from the computer to give them different ideas for lettering
Allow students to use pictures files and clip art that represents their interests and personality

Lesson Objectives:
Explore the life of Vincent Van Gogh
Students will gain appreciation for the art of paper marbling
Students will explore color and design
Students will learn the history of paper marbling

23. Accommodations
Students may need to wear gloves when around the shaving cream because of tactile issues that some students have.

24. Romare Bearden Photo Collage Project
Lesson Objectives:
Students will become familiar with the collage methods of Romare Bearden - discuss meaning in his work.
Students will make a collage with social/political comment

Have a variety of quotes from Martin Luther King, Jr. for students to choose from
Pre-cut images that go along with certain quotes for students

28. Non-Objective Collages from Paintings
Lesson Objectives:
The students will learn the difference between non-objective and abstract art while creating a non-objective reassembled collage.
Intuitively utilize elements and principles of design while painting

Cut paintings into squares using a paper cutter

Students will be asked to create a creative project using mix forms of media.
Inspired by Art therapy sessions and Angel frames
Each student will present their project to the class and give creative project to their classroom partner.

Teachers have students choose one piece of art work that they feel should be showcased
Invite parents, administrators, teachers, and students to come view art work
Have Post-Its and pens available by each piece of art to have visitors leave comments for students
Have visitors place comments around art work
Make sure to document the night with photographs
