Applied Technology High School ATE 1012 Grade 10 Eng. Rose Hasan

 Learners who successfully complete this module will:  Identify soldering functions  Remove and replace components on printed circuit boards.  Identify the different accessories needed for soldering and desoldering.  Assemble, solder and test the electronic circuit using the developed PCB in the previous module Eng. Rose Hasan

 What is soldering/de-soldering?  Soldering is a quick and efficient method of joining metals permanently. Eng. Rose Hasan

 What is de-soldering?  However, de-soldering is a method of removing the solder and components from circuit boards. Eng. Rose Hasan

 Soldering is used for:  Providing mechanical support by attaching various electrical components to PCBs  Providing electrical contact between the component leads and conducting paths on the PCBs. Eng. Rose Hasan

 De-soldering is used for:  Troubleshooting PCBs  Repair purposes  Components replacement Eng. Rose Hasan
