2. What happened? Five days ago, Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 vanished. There was no distress calls and no warning signs. It was a Boeing 777 aircraft carrying 227 passengers. It took off from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia heading to Beijing, China.

3. Interesting Facts The last contact was over Pulau Perak, a small island in the Straits of Malacca, hundreds of miles from the planned flight path. The plane's transponder, which emits identifying transponder codes to help flight controllers track a plane's route progress, stopped working around the same time flight controllers lost contact with the pilots.

4. Question… What do they think happened? It could have crashed or been bombed but there is no debris or parts found anywhere. There was no distress call so it could have been hijacked and taken to a different location for later use. It could have landed in the ocean but the transponder should have gone off.

5. Things to think about… The search-and-rescue efforts are made up of 42 ships and 39 aircraft from 12 countries. We can track a smart phone from anywhere in the world but cant keep track of a giant plane. Apparently it flew for 4 more hours after losing contact. There are so many unanswered questions.

6. Question… Was there anything suspicious leading up to this flight? At least two passengers were travelling under assumed identities with stolen passports. It is said that four passengers checked on luggage but were no shows for the flight. One man cancelled his flight right before. Another man handed his watch and wallet to a family member before boarding saying “here just in case anything happens”.

7. Question… What is the United States Involvement in this occurrence? On Tuesday, an influential Iranian lawmaker accused the United States of having “kidnapped” Flight 370, saying it was an attempt to “sabotage the relationship between Iran and China and South East Asia.” The United States have been diligently searching the Indian Ocean for any evidence of the plane. White house spokesmen are working on collecting data and piecing together information on the data system mix-ups. The United States are leaning toward the idea that the plane was hijacked due to no distress warnings going off.

8. The Outcome Families anxiously await any further findings. They have tried to contact those that were on the plane but no response. As of right now there is no further information or any type of consensus about what is going to happen.
