2. The “Terrible Lizards”

3.  They appeared about 230 million years ago.  The dinosaurs were little meat- eaters and big plant-eaters.  This was the Triassic Period.  The Earth’s plates were all together and was called Pangaea.

4.  The giants were the sauropod, example of sauropods are : Brachiosaurus, Mamenchisaurus and Barosaurus.  Sauropods spent 18hour of their day eating.  Most of the sauropods lived in herds, to make it easier to find food and get away from trouble.

5.  The largest meat eating dinosaurs were also the biggest land predator on earth.  Large meat-eaters lived in the late Triassic Period to the end of the Cretaceous Period which is also the end of the dinosaurs.  These carnivores killed their prey by rushing out of the trees or bushes or by scavenging on already dying or dead dinosaurs.

6.  The dinosaurs died out about 65 million years ago.  No one knows for sure how the dinosaurs died out.  There could be a meteorite that crashed into the earth and blocked out the sun.  Maybe many volcanoes erupted at the same time and made the dinosaurs die by causing disease.
