The “Terrible Lizards”
3
They appeared about 230 million years ago. The dinosaurs were little meat- eaters and big plant-eaters. This was the Triassic Period. The Earth’s plates were all together and was called Pangaea.
4
The giants were the sauropod, example of sauropods are : Brachiosaurus, Mamenchisaurus and Barosaurus. Sauropods spent 18hour of their day eating. Most of the sauropods lived in herds, to make it easier to find food and get away from trouble.
5
The largest meat eating dinosaurs were also the biggest land predator on earth. Large meat-eaters lived in the late Triassic Period to the end of the Cretaceous Period which is also the end of the dinosaurs. These carnivores killed their prey by rushing out of the trees or bushes or by scavenging on already dying or dead dinosaurs.
6
The dinosaurs died out about 65 million years ago. No one knows for sure how the dinosaurs died out. There could be a meteorite that crashed into the earth and blocked out the sun. Maybe many volcanoes erupted at the same time and made the dinosaurs die by causing disease.
