2. Title A map ALWAYS has a title to tell the reader what information its showing.

3. A compass rose shows the direction north, east, south and west. The letters N,E,S and W are placed to indicate direction. (NW, NE, SW, SE)

4. Scale Bar Shows the actual distance between points on the map. Ex. 1 inch = 1 Mile

5. Map Key or Legend Shows the symbols and colors used on the map and what each one means

6. Type of Maps Cartographers: a person who makes maps They have to be very accurate and show landmarks on a map such as oceans, or buildings.

7. Physical Map Shows only the natural landforms such as mountains, rivers and fields.

8. Political Map Shows man-made borders between countries, cities and towns. They use different colors for these boundaries.
