Launch Objective Accelerate and strengthen our “Digital duplicating” business. Incremental consumable revenue (Multi color = more ink & masters) Higher average selling price (Secure healthy gross profit) Market expansion

8 ~RISO is the leader in the market~
Launch Objective ~RISO is the leader in the market~ Shift our “Black & White” market to “Spot color”. Set a new standard in digital duplicating “Digital duplicator = Multi color”. Replace mid & high-end models with two-color-units to expand supply business. Expand our market and sales-channel with the added-value of “one-pass-two-color”. Dig-up potential high-volume markets that could not be covered with single-color-units.

9 Product Positioning Within the current RISO line of products HC5000
Strategic model to change our Black & White market to Multi-color HC5000 Color V8 Price MZ RZ Series B/W KS Copy Volume

10 Target Customers Primary Targets (Obvious prospects)
Multi drum customers (One pass 2 color) High volume customers (150ppm) Highly budgeted accounts (Versatility) Other Possible Opportunities Approach “Military” and “Higher Education/University (Public/Private)” accounts. Long-run and multi-color applications are obvious!!!

15 Part 2 Basic Specifications New Features PC Interface & Network
Optional accessories

16 Basic Specifications Resolution Scanning Area Scanner
600 x 600dpi (RZ3/5: 300 x 600dpi) TPH 600e-dpi x 600(Same as RZ3/5) Effect of 600x600dpi Scanning Effective for Link-print Scanning speed is also twice as fast  Faster Link-print Not as effective for master-making Since the scanned data is converted to 600e, there is not much difference compared with the RZ3&5. But the quality of the scanner–lens itself is better, so photo or half-tone images can be reproduced more precisely. MZ790U Max 11.7 " x 17" (297 x 432mm)

17 Basic Specifications Print Area Paper MZ770E
11.4“ x 16.7" (291 x 425mm) Size Minimum Maximum 2 color 7.16“ x 10.12" (182x257mm) 11.7 " x 17" (297 x 432mm) 1 color (drum1) 3.9“ x 5.8" (100mmx148mm) 1 color (drum2) 7.16“ x " (182257mm) Weight 13-lb bond (46g/m2) ~110-lb index (210g/m2)

18 Basic Specifications Minimum paper size (2 color printing)
Paper needs to be continuously pinched by a roller. In this case, the longest distance between two rollers is 9.6”. The smallest usable standard-size paper is 7.6“ x 10.12“ (B5) Drum1 Drum2 Transfer belt 2.7” 9.6” 12.3”

19 Basic Specifications Minimum paper size (1 color printing with Drum 1)
With single color printing the paper spec is exactly the same as RZ single color units. Smallest usable paper size is 3.9“ x 5.8" (100mmx148mm) You don’t have to remove Drum 2!!! Flapper Drum1 Drum2 (stands still) Transfer belt Flapper goes down to prevent the paper from hitting Drum2 2.7” 9.6” 12.3”

21 Basic Specifications Minimum paper size (1 color printing with Drum2)
With Drum1 set Minimum paper size (1 color printing with Drum2) If you make master without removing Drum 1, a confidential master will automatically be made on Drum 1, and print using two drums. Drum1 (confidential) Drum2 If you try to “print (or test-print)”, “Remove Drum 1” message will appear. Transfer belt Same size as two-color printing. Smallest usable size is 7.6“ x 10.12" (B5) 2.7” 9.6” 12.3”

22 Basic Specifications Other Paper-feeding Information
“Extended-paper” mode(1 paper / 2 drum rotations) You can print on paper with a length of 21.9“(555mm) maximum, by storing the paper as a “custom-size-paper” from the panel. When printing on a paper 17.2“(436mm) long (or longer), the machine will automatically switch to “Extended-paper mode”. Interval print Useful when you want to gain more time to dry ink. You can specify the paper-feed interval (number of free drum-rotations) from 1 to 10 rotations. Drum 1 is recommended for single-color printing Less paper-size restrictions. Quicker master-making time. Set your most frequently used drum to Drum 1.

23 Basic Specifications Master-making Time MZ 57sec 24sec
  Letter, Portrait / 100% reproduction 2 color master can be imaged within 1 minute!!! Master-making for a single color can be made as quickly as a single-color unit. MZ RZ3/5 2 Color 57sec 1 Color (Drum1) 24sec Letter model:22sec Ledger model:20sec 1 Color (Drum2) (Drum 1 removed) 34sec

Registration (Accuracy of print position) M Z Within 1/16” (2.0mm) M Z The print-start-position is maintained within a 1/16” (2.0mm) difference. Thanks to the one-pass-two-color mechanism of MZ, the difference between each color is extremely small. (within 1/128” (0.2mm)) Note: The first few prints may differ up to 1/64” (0.5mm). M Z Within 1/128” (0.2mm)

29 New Features Although connected, most customers use paper-originals.
Having a method to simplify multi-color printing using hard copy originals is essential!! Multi-color printing using hard copy originals is incredibly easy with the MZ.

30 New Features (1) “Easy 2 color”
In order to print in 2 colors, it was necessary to prepare 2 separate originals one for each color. Not any more! You can now easily print in 2 colors with just 1 original. There are 4 types in “Easy 2 color”.

56 Japan Success Stories Action Plan
Part 3 Japan Success Stories Action Plan

57 Standardizing 2-color-units in the school market is the goal.
Results in Japan (As of March 2005) Market mix (including dealer) Commercial: 38% In-plant printing Government: 32% Internal documents, Advertisements, flyers Real estate, Newspaper distribution: 17% Flyers, Newspaper Schools, Education: 9% (V8000: 1%) Teaching materials, Reports, Flyers Print shops: 4% Standardizing 2-color-units in the school market is the goal.

58 Results in Japan Success stories Fitness Center
(As of March 2005) Success stories Fitness Center Approached the headquarters, and suggested changing their flyers to “color”. MZ was installed to one of their clubs. MZ has now become a recommended-printer for future clubs. Hot Button: Speed and impact of 2 color.

59 Results in Japan Success stories Real estate
(As of March 2005) Success stories Real estate Easy deal with customers that have wanted but could not afford the V8000. By proposing MZ (multi-color-printing), we can avoid getting into a price-competition with competitors.

60 Results in Japan Success stories Print Shop
(As of March 2005) Success stories Print Shop Suggested to add “2-color-printing” to their job menu, and make more money. They liked the idea but doubted the print registration. Seeing is believing: One demonstration was all it took. (The owner was very impressed with the accuracy of one-pass-two-color.)

61 “Existing Duplicator Market”
Action Plan Which market will appreciate the MZ most? Especially, Multi-drum & High-volume users Competitors’ customers are good targets as well. One success in a large account could lead to a “one-after-another installation”. “Existing Duplicator Market” MIF Analysis is the key!!!

62 ~No competitors, but many alternatives~
Action Plan MZ can effectively be used for bids & tenders. No competitors Full of features that outdistance competitors Can avoid price competition Something to keep in Mind ~No competitors, but many alternatives~ As long as the customer does not understand the merit and advantage of multi-color printing, they will choose to buy a cheaper single-color alternative.

63 Action Plan Spread Success Stories
There should be perfect applications and perfect approach methods for the MZ. Sharing success stories is essential Use the RISO Forum

64 Thank you!
