UEA-member educators plan to be a resource for educators who will soon be required to navigate new evaluation standards enacted by the Utah Legislature. The goal for this initial phase of the UEA’s “Educators Taking the Lead” initiative …navigate the new evaluation system. When teachers work together to improve instruction, they elevate their profession. The UEA’s “Educators Taking the Lead” initiative will: Allow educators to take the lead in their profession. Help struggling teachers improve and successful teachers become better. Supplement, not circumvent, what school districts are doing. Encourage local flexibility. Commit staff at the state and local levels to implement this work. Train “evaluation leads” who work peer to peer and colleague to colleague. Provide funding for educator training. Not require additional taxpayer money.
