3. 1. Christian Giving is not a option it’s a command Numbers 15 : God commanded the Israelites to bring their offerings to God. God specified on how, what and when to give offerings.

4. There was punishment for those who disobeyed. Malachi 3:10 “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse…” Jesus commanded in Matt. 10:8 “Freely you have received freely give”. Giving is a discipline as important as Praying, Reading the Bible

5. 2. Giving is opening God’s door of Blessings. Malachi 3:10 “see if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.” Luke 6:38 “Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour on your lap a good measure – pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.

All who gave to the Lord were blessed : - Moses gave the stick and God blessed it. - 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish were blessed when it was given in the hands of God. - the 2 coins of the widow were blessed when she gave it. "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose.” - Jim Elliot

12. Story of William Colgate Born in England on 25 th January, 1783. Sailed to America in 1798. At the age of 19 took over a business in which his father failed. A Christian friend advised “Be a good man, give your heart to Christ, give God all that belongs to Him ”

13. Was inspired by Genesis 28:20-22 “ Then Jacob made a vow saying, If God will be with me and will keep me on this journey I take….. I will surely give a tenth to you ” William Colgate started giving tithes from 1804. Increased from10% to 20%. He died in 1857, He was giving 30% of his income as TITHE to God.
