2 The turkey is one of the most famous birds in North America…
Did you know that Benjamin Franklin wanted to make the turkey, not the bald eagle, our national bird!!!

3 Wild vs Domestic Weigh twice the weight of a wild turkey They can fly
So big they cannot fly Raised on farms White feathers They can fly Are colorful Live in the woods

4 Where do they live??? They are native to North America
Turkeys spend their day in the woods foraging for food: seeds, acorns, berries, small insects They also roost in low branches of trees

5 Turkey Family Hen: Female turkey Poult: Baby turkey - chick
Tom: Male turkey also called Gobblers He uses his feathers to attract the females. Puffs up to make himself look bigger. He makes a “gobble-gobble” sound. Hen: Female turkey She likes fancy trotting “Tom” turkeys. She incubates around 18 eggs at one time. Poult: Baby turkey - chick It takes one month for babies to hatch. They stay with their mama for one whole year.

6 Wild turkeys are covered with dark feathers that help them blend in with their woodland homes.  The bare skin on the throat and head of a turkey can change color from flat gray to striking shades of red, white, and blue when the bird becomes distressed or excited

Glue turkey in the middle of your paper Adding Wings – what’s your style? Add a Beak: Triangle beak, open beak, side beak, it’s your choice! Don’t forget those eyes! Step 2
