2. Shift work
Shift work can be defined as a pattern of working in which one employee replaces another on the same job over a set period of time. It is usually seen in transit and communication related jobs. There are four different types of shift patterns. Two-shift system, three-shift working, continental shifts and split shifts.
The Two-shift system is the most common one, which normally consists of two shifts of eight hours each. E.g. 06:00 to 14:00 and 14:00 to 22:00. Shifts are usually alternated weekly or over longer intervals.
The Three-shift system is where the day is divided into three working shift patterns, which are usually morning shift (06:00 to 14:00) and afternoon shift of (14:00 to 22:00) and a night shift of (22:00 to 06:00). Usually but not always, this pattern involves a week or two of morning shifts followed by a week or two of afternoon shift followed by evening/night.
The Continental shifts are a continuous three-shift system that rotates rapidly for example three mornings, two afternoons and two nights.
The Split shifts are full shifts divided into two distinct parts of the day, with a gap of several hours in between each shift.

3. Fixed term
Fixed term employment is when an employee is on a ‘fixed-term’ contract, which means that their employment will end on a particular date or on completion of a specific task they have been assigned.
You may be a fixed-term employee if you are a seasonal or casual employee who has been employed for up to 6 months during a peak period, you could also be on a fixed-term contract if you are covering maternity leave.

4. Office hours
Office hours generally mean that a person is employed for a 9 to 5 job with a 30-minute or a 1-hour break. They are normally having a set amount of income coming through which means they get paid annually and normally if they do overtime they don’t get paid for it.

5. Freelance
Freelance work is a term commonly used for a person who is self -employed and is not committed to a particular employer long-term. A freelancer sometimes represents a company or a temporary agency.

6. Irregular patterns
Irregular working hours are hours outside of normal daytime hours on weekdays. There are four distinguished types of irregular working hours these are.
Evenings: Hours between 7pm to 12pm
Nighttime: hour between 12pm and 6am
Saturdays: any time within the day
Sunday: Sunday hours which normally consist of 10am till 4pm.

7. Hourly rates
Hourly rate work is the amount of money you get paid hourly to how many hours you work during the week, which is then timed, by how many hours you have done during the week then timed by the month.
For example id you are to paid £7ph and you have done 6hrs that day you will get £42 for that day.

8. Methods of recruitment
There are two types of recruitment these are internal and external sources.
Internal source involves recruiting candidates within an origination to fill the vacancy.

Retired Employees for temporary or contact positions
