Students will have a basic introduction to general anatomy. Students will disuss the History of Sports Medicine.

9 Roles and responsibilities
Athletic Trainer – Injury prevention and health care provision for athletes. Team Physician – Collaborate with the trainer. Ultimately responsible for the welfare of the athlete. Coach – Understand the specific roles, rules , and regulations of the Sports Medicine Team. Orthopedist – Responsible for injuries involving the musculoskeletal system. Neurologist – Specializes in treating disorders involving the nervous system. Podiatrist – Foot doctor.

Physical Therapist – Supervision of rehabilitation program. Biomechanist – Studies and analyzes human motion. Exercise Physiology – Studies the human body in relation to conditioning, body composition, and nutrition. Nutritionist – Studies the impact of nutrition on human performance. Sports Psychology – Uses intervention strategies to help an athlete cope with the rehabilitation process.
