Conditions of employment

Contracts Full time permanent - Means your on a full time contract and get paid directly from the employer and you will also get paid for a certain amount of holidays and sick days but will have to work 40 hours minimum a week. Part time - Part time is the same as full time but you will work fewer hours a week 30-35 hours a week Fixed term - This means your job is guaranteed for 2 years but you can leave at any time Freelance - Working for different companies at different times rather than being permanently employed by one company meaning you would do a project then sell it and leave at any time.

Work hours Shift work - You work the same amount of shift hours with a group of people but you rotate Office hours - The hours set by your business in which they open and close Anti social hours – This means you would work really late in the night really early morning

Pay Salaried – You get a yearly set amount Hourly – Hourly pay calculate your hourly pay by how many hours you did Completion - You get paid on your completion

Jobs in photography fashion is very freelance such as getting booked with certain places so they might call you up when they need your certain skills. You want to be booked with as many agencies as possible so it is easier to get a call get the money and leave after you have done the certain shoot. Freelancers get paid on completion but they always leave their details on a website for companies to see it is pretty much get booked and get paid, very self employed and normally agrees on a price before they work. Most self employed workers are freelance as they will go from place to place earning. The BBC have a get booked and get paid system where you do all there training but you have to have the right requirements and insurance to make sure you eligible to work. As you are on the BBC freelance system you can accept and agree on the work and how much if you get a email to say they want you for the job. It is hard to get a job as there are over 18,000 freelancers signed up. I think the pros and cons are pretty much you might not always be in work but you can build your way up if you get the opportunity to do a good job. As you may not always be in work you can always throw your self out into other industries so your not always in the same place if you like moving around and doing different projects all the time.
