3 Getting started: Get index cards…many index cards. Locate your sources. Make a bibliography card for each one. Uniquely identify each source by the color of the index card.

8 Taking notes Write one, and only one, fact or piece of information on the card. Remember to include the page number on which it is found. Continue until the source is exhausted. Move on to another source.

11 It’s time to create your entry Make an outline for your paper or script. Design the layout for your exhibit or web site. Create a storyboard for your documentary.

12 This is easily done by putting your index cards in the order you wish to present your entry. If you change your mind, just change the order of your index cards.
