What would happen if the Earth stopped it’s orbit? By Renae Karagiannis

Earth is the 3 rd closest planet to the sun. The Earth was formed about 4.54 billion years ago. And is the only planet to support life. Ancient Scientists used to think that Earth was the Centre of the solar system due to how the Sun moves its place in the sky above us. When that happens we are actually moving not the sun. The Earth is not a perfect sphere. Earth Facts

The Earth experiences 4 seasons while orbiting the Sun. Each season is around 3 months long. There is the Summer and Winter Solstice and the Autumn and Vernal Equinox. When the Earth orbits the Sun it is not in a perfect circle. Earth orbit’s the Sun and it takes 365 ¼ days, therefore every 4 years we have a leap year. Earth’s Orbit Facts

Sun Facts The Sun is middle aged, 4.6 billion years old. The Sun is the star cat the Centre of the Solar System and is by far the most important source of energy for life on Earth. The Suns Mass is 1,989,100,000,000,000,000,000 billion kilograms. The surface temperature is 5500 degrees Celsius. The Sun is a Yellow Dwarf. The Suns Core is about 13,600,000 degrees Celsius.
6
Solar System Facts The solar system is made up of 9 planets and many, many dwarf planets. The 9 planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. One way to remember the order of the planets is My very educated mother just sent us nine pizzas. The Sun is the Centre of the solar system. Pluto is the smallest planet and Jupiter is the biggest planet. The Sun makes up 99.86% of the Solar Systems mass.

What would happen if the Earth stopped its orbit? Earth’s orbit is very important because without out it there would be no seasons. When the earth orbits the sun one hemisphere of the earth gets direct sunlight and the other hemisphere gets indirect sunlight. The seasons would stay the same and there would be no seasons. Without Earth’s orbit there would be no years. With no years there would be no days and without days we would not know when to go places.

Earth’s mass is 6,000,000,000,0 00,000,000,000, 000 kilograms. Did you know? The Earth is 149,600,000 kilometers from the sun.
