2. Earth is the 3 rd closest planet to the sun. The Earth was formed about 4.54 billion years ago. And is the only planet to support life. Ancient Scientists used to think that Earth was the Centre of the solar system due to how the Sun moves its place in the sky above us. When that happens we are actually moving not the sun. 3. The Earth experiences 4 seasons while orbiting the Sun. Each season is around 3 months long. There is the Summer and Winter Solstice and the Autumn and Vernal Equinox. When the earth orbits the sun one hemisphere of the earth gets direct sunlight and the other hemisphere gets indirect sunlight. The seasons would stay the same and there would be no seasons. Without Earth’s orbit there would be no years. With no years there would be no days and without days we would not know when to go places.
