Question Can salt melt ice faster than the sun?
3
Purpose The purpose of my investigation is to determine if salt can melt ice better than the sun itself.
4
Hypothesis I hypothesize that sunlight melts ice better than salt. I believe this because I used my schema to know that the sun probably will melt it better because the suns rays have warmth.
5
Procedure
6
Materials Two paper plates Ten ice cubes Timer/Stopwatch Marker Tape/masking tape Sunlight Grams of salt
7
Variables Manipulated: Sun or salt Responding: melting time Constants: paper plates, ice from local store, amount of salt used

Directions 1. Gather materials 2. Place one ice cube on the paper plate labeled SUN 3. Place one cube on the plate labeled SALT 4. Sprinkle grams of salt on the ice cube on the SALT plate 5. Start timer 6. Record melting time for each cube 7. Repeat steps 1 through 6 for four more trials 1. Gather materials 2. Place one ice cube on the paper plate labeled SUN 3.
