30. Microsoft Office
The first version of “Office” was programmed for the Apple Mac OS and was released on June 19, 1989.
This version included the Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications.

It was not until January of 1990 that Microsoft released a version of Office for PCs (which were running Windows 2.0 at the time!)
From Microsoft released new versions of its Office products separately.
It was not until Office 95 that the applications were updated together.

32. Microsoft Office
The release of Office 95 marked a new strategy from Microsoft.
Instead of sporadically releasing new versions of the Office products separately, they decided to update all the products at once and bracket them under a new name.
This update strategy is still in-use by Microsoft today.

To the right, is the product packaging for Office 95.
This version contained Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Scheduler+, and Access.
The original release was intended for Windows 95 or Windows NT 3.51
Surprisingly, Office 95 can still be run on Windows XP systems.

To the right is the product packaging for Office 97.
This version (Professional) included PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Excel, & Access.
This was the first version of the Office suite to include Outlook.

This version (Professional) included Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, & Publisher.
This release had 4 versions (Premium, Professional, Small Business, and Standard.)

36. Microsoft Office XP
To the right is the product packaging for Office XP.
This version (Professional) included Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, & Access.
This release had 4 versions (Professional, Standard, Small Business, and Student/Teacher.)
Office XP was the first version of Office to include Product Activation to cut down on software piracy.
