Blood Groups Your goals for this lab: By the end of this practical you will be able to Determine your blood group. Describe the importance of blood group typing. Describe the importance of blood donation. After finishing the lab ask your self if you have achieved the above mentioned goals.

Ensure compatible blood transfusion. Eliminate hemolytic disease of the newborn due to RH incompatibility. What is the importance of blood group typing?

The test: What do you need? Anti A serum. Anti B serum. Anti D serum. Slides. Glass marker. Sterile finger puncture equipment.

What to do? Assemble all the necessary equipment. Explain the procedure to the subject in simple words. Place 3 drops of the Antisera on the slide. Mark each drop with the anti sera you added. Perform a sterile finger prick. Add a drop of blood to each Antisera. Allow time to pass and mix the specimen. Observe for agglutination.
