3.   Before we begin focusing heavily on our historical fiction novels, we will study an example of historical fiction in film.  Over the next two days, pay close attention to Remember the Titans and how to movie displays some of the characteristics of historical fiction.  On Thursday, we will be doing a follow-up activity with the film. 4.   Remember the Titans is based on the actual events surrounding a Virginia high school football team’s 1971 season.  Set in Alexandria, Virginia, a court order has forced local high schools to integrate for the first time.  The long-time football coach, Bill Yoast, has been replaced by Herman Boone, the school’s first African American faculty member.  The two coaches have to overcome their difference and help their players become a true team as they set their sights on the state championship.
