HMEP Grant Workshop U.S. DOT PHMSA Overview Oregon Office of State Fire Marshal 2 The Hazardous Materials Transportation Safety and Security Reauthorization Act of 2005 authorizes the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), Pipeline and Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA) to provide assistance to public sector employees through planning and training grants.

5.  The HMEP grant program is funded by registration fees collected from hazardous materials shippers and carriers who transport via intrastate, interstate, or foreign commerce.  The fees fund:  Training and planning grants for projects related to hazardous materials transportation incidents  Publication and distribution of the Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG) Oregon Office of State Fire Marshal5 HMEP Grant Workshop Program Funding

14.  A 20% match is required- Grant recipients may use cash (hard match) or in-kind (soft match) contributions, or a combination of cash and in-kind match.
