KS Connected Rate of Change The chain rule can be used to solve problem involving rates of change. Example 1 The length of the side of a square is increasing at a constant rate of 1.5 cm/s. At the moment when the length is of the side is 10 cm, find the rate of the increase of the area. The chain rule:

KS Connected Rate of Change Example 2 The length of the edge of a cube is increasing at a constant rate of 4.2 mm s -1. At the moment when the length of the edge is 50 mm, find the rate of increase of the volume. The chain rule:
