Literacy Action Overview History & Mission – Founded in 1968 in downtown Atlanta to teach literacy, life, and work skills to adults. – Utilize both paid and volunteer teachers Classroom-based semester model One-on-one volunteer tutor model Site-based instructional models

Literacy Action Overview Students – Predominantly African-American (70%) – 28 countries represented – Five counties are the principal service area
