Being Safe A Port Discovery social story written by, Kori Bardige, MS.Ed. [ Abilities Network ] Project ACT www.abilitiesnetwork.org

When I go to Port Discovery I can explore lots of things, but I need to remember to stay near my so I (parent, teacher, chaperone) can stay safe.

If I get separated from my I will (parent, teacher, chaperone) will try to remember our “safe spot” (a place we decide to meet if we get separated) and I will go there and wait for my.

If I don’t know where my safe spot is, I can go to to security on the first floor and they can help me.

I can also look for an adult wearing a red apron. This adult will help me find. (parent, teacher, chaperone) I should try to tell this adult my name so he/she can help me.

When playing at Port Discovery I also need to try to remember the rules so I can stay safe and have fun.

I should use my walking feet at Port Discovery. It’s ok to run on the soccer field, but I need to walk around the other places in the museum so I don’t bump into someone else.

I should try to use my inside voice when I play at Port Discovery.

When I stay safe at Port Discovery I can have fun!
