Drawing Tools Objectives: The Student will: 1. Understand the Illustrations group in the Insert ribbon 2. Understand the Format tab in the Drawing Tools ribbon 3. Understand the basics of WordArt 4. Understand AutoShapes and how place, rotate and resize

Illustration Group The Illustrations group allows you to add graphics to your document. 1. Picture – Add a picture from a file 2. Clip Art – Add clip art from the gallery 3. Shapes – Use drawing tools to create a graphic 4. Smart Art - Represent a bullet list as a diagram of interconnected shapes. With SmartArt, you can create List, Process, Cycle, Hierarchy, Relationship, Matrix, and Pyramid diagrams. 5. Chart – Add a chart to your document. 6. Screenshot – Inserts a picture of open window (window cannot my minimized when you click the button)

Shapes Clicking on shapes will bring up a list of predefined shapes Click on the shape you want and then sweep the size and location of the shape in your document. A text box is simply a shape that can hold text. Once you draw the shape, right click and select Add Text This is added text

Shapes These shapes are completely resizable. Just drag the handles. But be careful. Dragging a corner handle will not keep the shape's proportions! Hold down the SHIFT key while you drag a corner handle to keep a shape's proportions. The “green dot” at the top of the image allows you to rotate that image.

Drawing Tools Format Ribbon Once a shape has been added to the document, then the Drawing Tools Format ribbon is displayed The ribbon allows you to: 1. Add a new shape 2. Select a Shape Style (sets color, shading, effects, etc.) 3. Edit WordArt Styles 4. Set the text alignment and direction 5. Arrange the shape in the document 6. Set the size

Drawing Tools – Arrange Group Position or Text Wrap: Allows control over how the graphic will appear with respect to the text around the graphic

Drawing - Order Sometimes you need to change the stacking order. That is to change which shape is on top of another shape To change the order you use the Bring to Front and Send to Back drop downs.

Drawing - Grouping Grouping is a way to lock items together You should group objects that should stay to together. That way you won't accidentally mess up the arrangement you worked so hard to get just right. It’s also much easier to move objects that are grouped together. Select the items you want together Home tab, Edit Group, Select, Select Objects Click Group | Group. To ungroup simply select the graphics and do Group | Ungroup.

Drawing – WordArt WordArt can help you create attractive logos and fancy text to really catch the reader's eye. This program is accessed from the Text group on Insert tab in the Word ribbon. Note: Your WordArt text is not regular text. It can be edited only with WordArt. Spell check won't see it as any more than it would a picture of a tree. So be careful with your spelling when you create WordArt!

Drawing – WordArt When you use WordArt, you are actually creating a drawing object. Like imported images and drawing objects, a WordArt object has handles that you drag to resize. In fact you can use all the Drawing tools on your WordArt. Start WordArt by clicking on the insert ribbon A style gallery appears where you choose the letter style. This changes based on the style of the document.

Drawing – WordArt Enter the text in the pop-up box:

Drawing – WordArt Styles Group To alter the color, texture, etc click on the WordArt and the use the WordArt Styles group: 1. Pick a different style 2. Set the font color 3. Set the outline color 4. Set Text Effects:

Drawing – WordArt Text Effects Transform On of the ways to make WordArt interesting is to add a transform. Transforms warps the text into shapes
