7 POPULAR 194O’S SINGERS Music in the 1940s consisted of a lot of jazz and big band styles. Some of the artists who helped to create this musical era are pictured be low, and also Bing Crosby, Glenn Miller, Cliff Edwards, Frank Sinatra, and many more. Popular scat jazz singer as “The man in the zoot suit with the reet pleats” because he brought around a whole new slang language: the 1940s Shakespeare. Dizzy Gillespie was known for his puffy cheeks.
