Considered one of the greatest athletes in boxing history. In 1960, he won a spot on the U.S. Olympic boxing team. Well known for his foot work and for having a powerful punch. After his Olympic win, he was signaled as an American hero. Took heavyweight champion of the world in 1964. He was doing some spiritual searching and decided to join the black Muslim group. Changed his name to Muhammad Ali.

He was a tennis player. Became the first and is still the only African American tennis player to win the U.S Open and Wimbledon. He is the first black American to be ranked No. 1 in the world. Helped raise awareness for AIDS dieses.

Known as "The Buckeye Bullet“ When competing for Ohio State University, he equaled one world record and broke three others. In 1936 he won four gold medals at the Olympic Games in Berlin.
