Biography Charles Dickens was born in 1812 When he was five years old he moved with his family to Catham He had a very hard childhood owing to economic problems that his family had When he was twelve he start working in a factory Their economy improved when they received the inheritance of his maternal grandmother He married Catherine Hogarth, with who had ten children He died in 1870 at age of 58 years in Kent, England

Synopsis The story is about the life of David Copperfield. David’s father dies six months before he was born for this reason he lives with his mother and his nanny Peggoty. Seven years later his mother re-married a man, Edward Murdstone, he sends him to a school in which they are very strict. During the holidays, David visits his mother and learns that she has got a baby. When school starts again his mother dies and has to return home immediately. Mr. Murdstone sends him to work in a London factory but he goes to live with his aunt and it is when he meets people like Agnes and Dora. David married Dora but she dies very young. A few years later he gets married to Agnes the woman who he had two children with.

The main characters David Copperfield: He’s the protagonist and the narrator of the novel. Clara Peggoty: The servant of the Copperfield family and a life long companion to David. Edward Murdestone: The cruel stepfhater, he forces David to work in a factory. Betsey Trotwood: She’s the great-aunt of David. James Streerforth: He’s a very important character because he’s an influence for David.
