1 New Developments in ROCKET: Collaborative Web-based Workspaces for Sharing Information and Documents Jacqueline Kirby September 28, 2012

2 What is ROCKET? ROCKET is a web-based tool for sharing information and documents, allowing members of a workspace to collaborate more effectively and efficiently by building and sharing web pages.

3 Who can access ROCKET? Anyone Any member of the Vanderbilt and Meharry communities (with a valid VUNet ID and password) can access ROCKET and create a workspace on StarBRITE. External users can be added to a workspace by a Vanderbilt or Meharry workspace owner/admin. External users only can access existing workspaces in collaboration with a Vanderbilt/Meharry user. They only need to be invited to a space to get access.

4 Your Dashboard My Projects Create New Workspace Organize Workspaces – Create and Manage tags, Hid Workspaces you are not using Search Workspaces – you can only search Workspaces you are a member Workspace Tools Rename Workspace (only Admin users can do this) Clone (only users with Write Rights can do this) Members(only Admin users can do this) Delete – Note this deletes the workspace for everyone and is permanent (only Admin users can do this) Create a Short URL for the space (only Admin users can do this) Notifications By default, these appear in your Dashboard, but users can self-select if they would like Notifications to get sent as an email in addition Schedule Get additional information and help about ROCKET

5 Workspace Members Admin – Manage users on the workspace; has all user privileges(Create/Read/Write/Delete/Sort), Can Lock pages, Can create Short URLs, Delete a Workspace for all users  Creators of a Workspace are Admin by default  Only other Admins can remove another Admin’s user rights Create - Add/create pages Read (default) –Read-only view Write – Create content on the pages; Can Clone workspaces to new workspaces, send Notifications to Workspace Members Delete - Delete pages within the workspace Sort - Sort pages in the Table of Contents To add a member, you can use the Search function for all Vanderbilt and Meharry persons or existing ROCKET users(external users). If the person you are looking for is not found, you have the option to Invite them to ROCKET to participate in your space.

6 Your Workspaces Starting with a blank slate, members with create privileges can add multiple pages to their workspace. On the pages, members with write privileges can add and organize: headers blocks of text files dividers lists (bulleted, numbered and checklists) Images tables

7 Tools on your Workspace Page Tools Add or copy a page – Can add/copy page to/from existing workspace or another one of your workspaces Revert to previous page version Delete this page Make a page private/Make a page public Lock a page/ Unlock a page Sharing Tools Share Links Export this page Messaging Tools Reminder (Schedule) Send a Message (Immediate)
