Pompeii By: Elijah Mroch, Francis Carlos, David Mireut, and Andrew Torres

Where is it? Pompeii is located in Southern Italy, around the southeast area of the Bay of Naples.

What artifacts are there? Among the many artifacts found in Pompeii, the most famous were the casts of the people that were suffocated in ash.

What artifacts are there?, cont. Among the dead, there were other artifacts such as pots, tools, furniture, and many other amenities.

Who explored Pompeii? In 1599, while in the process of constructing a underground channel, workers found an ancient wall covered with inscriptions and paintings. Architect Domenico Fontana was called in to explore the rest. Throughout the course of the future, more and more of Pompeii was excavated.

Why is it important? Pompeii is very important, because of the extent of the archeological sites. They provide tons of useful information about social, religious, political, and economic life. Bakeries still contained loaves of ancient bread, showing one of the food staples. There were also numerous fulleries, showing how wool was produced.
