ENTR G3 ENTR F3 Priority Area: Technologies for raw materials production (WP1) The related 2020 target: demonstrate feasibility of the sustainable production of primary and secondary raw materials in the EU on ten pilot actions Objective to develop new industrially viable technological solutions for sustainable production of raw materials in the EU, both from primary and secondary sources. The value chain of raw materials production includes Exploration, Extraction, Processing and Recycling. The viability of the solutions shall be demonstrated on pilot actions in real industrial environment by 2020.

ENTR G3 ENTR F3 Priority Area: Technologies for raw materials production (WP1) 3.1.2.1Exploration Specific actions I.1: Deep exploration to enable finding and defining new industrially relevant mineral deposits on the continent and in the sea-bed by developing new cost-effective exploration technologies providing high resolution 3D geo-data and their interpretation down to 200-4000 meters depth to be used for the non-energy extractive industry investment decisions.

ENTR G3 ENTR F3 Priority Area: Technologies for raw materials production (WP1) 3.1.2.2Mining Specific actions I.2: Zero waste (unconventional) mining to promote unconventional "zero waste" underground mining approaches eliminating generation of large tailings in order to facilitate social dialogue on mining I.3: Mining of small deposits to provide European SMEs with technology solutions enabling cost-effective and environmentally sound exploitation of small mineral deposits. I.4: Invisible mine (conventional mining) to contribute to shifting fully the conventional mining production processes from the surface to underground and integrate them with other underground processes in order to access deeper deposits, reduce the environmental footprint and improve public understanding of the mining operations. I.5: Deep-sea mining to enable commercial deep-sea mining in a socially acceptable, environmentally responsible and economically viable way by developing new technological solutions and demonstrating them on a mining pilot.

ENTR G3 ENTR F3 Priority Area: Technologies for raw materials production (WP1) 3.1.2.3Processing Specific actions I.6: Metallurgical Processing of complex and/or low grade resources to develop and demonstrate a new holistic metallurgical system with higher technical, economic and environmental performance for processing and recovery of metals from low grade and/or complex feeds with changing composition. I.7: Flexible and mobile processing plants for industrial minerals and aggregates to develop and demonstrate flexible, when appropriate mobile or modular, “zero waste” processing plants able to process different industrial minerals and aggregates.
7
ENTR G3 ENTR F3 Priority Area: Technologies for raw materials production (WP1) 3.1.2.4Recycling Specific actions: I.8: Recovery of technology metals from complex end-of-life products to develop and demonstrate cost, resource and energy efficient and environmentally sound solutions for recovery of technology metals including Critical Raw Materials. I.9: Recovery of materials from packaging to demonstrate economic feasibility of innovative technological solutions for recovery of materials from multi-layer and multi-material packaging in order to increase recycling rate I.10: Supply of construction materials from urban mines to demonstrate (i) the feasibility of increasing the recovery rate of construction and demolition (C&D) waste, and (ii) the economic and environmental advantages associated with C&D waste treatment, thereby closing the current gap between the reality and the overall 70% recycling target for C&D waste as set in the Waste Framework Directive. I.11: “Zero Waste” paper recycling mill to develop and demonstrate a paper recycling mill that would virtually re-use 100% of the material out of the input paper waste.
