9 Enrollment Patterns and Expectations 2008-2010 enrollment count has increased over 30% Won’t have enough classes to meet the demand for another 1-2 yrs Efficiency of our courses will increase; however faculty are adding students beyond class max. Need for transfer courses will increase as students are unable to enroll at UC/ CSU Classified staff have been impacted by budget reductions, meaning: “MORE PEOPLE DOING MORE WITH LESS”

10 Expectations… Adding new programs are difficult when existing programs have students waitlisted Preparing for an economic rebound when students will have greater choices Increasing numbers of fulltime student enrollment ratio

11 Current High Demand Programs All General Education courses English as a Second Language courses Math and English basic skills courses Nursing and related health occupation courses

12 Key Initiatives Increase opportunities in Health Care and Wellness Certificate to Degree Opportunities: -Green Chemistry Sustainability Competencies across the Curriculum Service Learning Professional Development: -Teaching and Learning Center for all staff Online Degree

13 Key Initiatives… Increase Grant applications specific to college planning Increase K-12 partnerships modeled after Middle College and Tech Prep models Increase internships with community business 21 st Century technology infrastructure and leadership

14 Student Success… Faced tremendous obstacles: -Major health issues -Caring for his aunt and grandmother -Lived in the Salvation Army Homeless Shelter Maintained his college education, earning 3 college degrees from Mission College: -Social Sciences, Liberal Arts, and Sociology Maintain a 3.55 GPA Won Soropimist and Access scholarships: total $1,200 Won fall 2009 Speech and College Brain Dive contest On graduation, he was commended by councilmember Ash Karla and the City of San Jose for his tireless efforts for success whiling helping those around him…..
