WHO IS ALAN TURING? THIS is Alan Turing! An English mathematician and a computer scientist. Studies at University of Cambridge in 1931 and after he had graduated, he went to University of Manchester. During the Second World War, he was the head of Hut 8, which they solves the Germany code messages. 1 He studies all sorts of mathematics and computer science. He was well known for creating the first Turing machine – calculator and leading the Hut 8 in the Second World War. 2 1 “Turing, Alan Mathieson” 15 th Sept. 2009. 1 st Oct. 2011. http://encyclopedia2.thefreedictionary.com/Turing,+Alan+Mathison 2 “Alan Turing” Wikipedia 19 September 2011. 1 st. CONCLUSION Alan Turing created a Turing machine – Calculator and played an important role to the invention of modern computer. Johann discovered infinitesimal calculus and applied to various problems. Both had influence to the modern technology and inspired a lot of scientists and mathematicians after them. They both set the footstone for development of modern science.
