It was easy for programmers to imbed a virus into a popular program and let it spread Viruses were also transmitted via floppy disk. Computers used to boot from the floppy disk, and if it had a virus on it, the virus would begin to run and could easily spread itself to other programs and computers as floppy discs were commonly shared
