Payroll Giving Conference 29th June 2012 Lauretta Lamont, Britvic CSR Advisor Payroll Giving and CSR – All smoke and mirrors?
2
Agenda Payroll giving – history at Britvic How it fits with Britvic’s CSR strategy Future plans
3
Payroll giving – Britvic’s history Britvic’s relationship with payroll giving started with CAF around the turn of the millennium. It continued, largely un-promoted until 2006 when we launched our CSR strategy At this time we had 6 employees giving!
4
Britvic’s CSR strategy and vision To be a progressive, sustainable, responsible company – trusted and respected by our communities Making a positive contribution to the lives of our employees and our local and global communities Investing and innovating to minimise our impacts and secure our long term future Harnessing the power of our brands to help address relevant social and environmental issues
5
Payroll giving now at Britvic 2009: twice a year: Bell promotional materials, laminates supporting our Britvic charity partners As well as Bell’s smaller groups of charities or any other charity employees want to support Sometimes offer the added incentive of a prize-draw Don’t currently match - promotion and tax benefit has proved incentive enough
6
Payroll giving – the results Britvic’s payroll giving has consistently increased following promotion of the scheme since 2009 we have added over 140 new donors to our scheme We now have 142 donors giving £12,000 a year an average of over £7 per month per donor We are aiming to get 230 on board to reach the Gold standard of PGQM in the Olympic year Payroll giving, as part of our ‘Responsible’ CSR strategy allows our employees to ‘play their part’ either via their own choice of charity or to support Britvic’s charity partners Nothing smoke and mirrors about this – real results for our charities
7
Payroll giving – Leverage Payroll giving gives employees choice – facilitating and empowering rather than dictating In line with LBG, we encourage a number of ways of giving - Payroll Giving is just one offering in a host of support: matched giving product donations volunteering days This in turn stimulates and encourages them to enquire about other support for their charities
8
Britvic’s future plans Our strategy is right as we plan towards 2020 Stronger communities BITC CR index measures We plan to expand this out wherever possible to our Group Ireland and France Rewarding our employees for participating in their communities or helping charities Give More Blue Dots Social networking Gen Y are demanding this kind of support as part of their ‘great place to work’ package
9
In conclusion Payroll Giving is an important part of our CSR programme It works well on its own merits, but as part of an overall programme has even more impact Promotion of the scheme at our sites educates employees not just about payroll giving, but also the causes we support as a business, and helps engage our people in this and other charitable activity We are proud of what we and our Payroll Giving scheme has achieved so far and want to keep improving awareness and take up
10
Open discussion Britvic’s scheme is just one of example of Payroll Giving at work – let’s now hear from others in the audience.
