5 A Parent’s Role Before the Game – Tell your child you are proud of him or her regardless of how well they play – Tell your child to play with their best effort (let them know it is OK to be nervous) – Make a commitment to yourself to HONOR THE GAME, no matter what others do During the Game – Let the Coaches do the coaching – avoid coaching from the sidelines – Fill your child’s (and their teammates’) Emotional Tank – Cheer good plays and good efforts by BOTH teams – Mention good calls by the officials – Enjoy the game, don’t stress yourself or those around you After the Game – Thank the Officials for their efforts in a difficult job – Thank the Coaches for their efforts – Tell your child again that you are proud of them (even if the game didn’t go well) – Let your child tell you about the game (avoid your post-game analysis, unless asked) Simply Say: “I enjoyed watching you play today!” Make an Impact! 5

6 2015 Parent Meeting Presentation Anti-Bullying Policy Purpose Does not respect R.O.O.T.S.- (Rules, Officials, Opponents, Teammates or Self) Does not Honor the Game Process Complaints are investigated by VP and Director first 1st Offense- 1 game suspension 2nd Offense- 3 game suspension, off A team if on it 3rd Offense- suspension for remainder of season

Expanded In-House and Equipment Program Split boys & girls U9 will move to an in-house format with one travel team Equipment rental or purchase program lowers barrier for entry League Changes Boys – U11 divided to A & B and Spring Jamborees Girls – see MSLAX website 14

15 2015 Parent Meeting Presentation What’s New (continued) Facilities Changes – Turf is here! ✓ Attempt to have all teams play at least one home game on turf – New shed is done at TOMS ✓ South side of turf field ✓ All game equipment will be stored there ✓ Location for in-house equipment handout and all levels equipment return 15

16 2015 Parent Meeting Presentation Schedules Practice Schedules Spring practice schedules on our website now Outside April 28, pending field condition Summer practice schedules will be out late April (practice days Monday thru Thursday) Game Schedules Starting in June 9th for girls; June 15th for boys All games are weekdays (exception U9 Sunday evenings) Coordinated by YLM (boys) and MSLAX (girls) and come out LATE (1 st week June) 16

21 2015 Parent Meeting Presentation Travel Teams All A decisions at 7/8, U11, U13 and U15 will be announced on April 28 All other teams will be balanced ✓ Balance using player skill scores from evaluations, age, and years experience ✓ All teams are equal on all of these factors at each level ✓ Exception at U9 where there is 1 team All teams will be announced on April 28

22 2015 Parent Meeting Presentation Evaluations Methodology High school coaches and players evaluate No names- we use numbered pinnies Closed sessions running scrimmages and same drills players have practiced earlier Development Directors make A team decisions- no parent coach or board member input Girls 7/8 grade level has A and B teams April 21, 26 and 28 (be sure to check website for any changes). Boys U11-U15 have A and B teams April 18 and 25 for U11; April 19 and 26 for U13 and U15 (be sure to check website for any changes).

24 2015 Parent Meeting Presentation Volunteering Coaches – tell us now if you have an interest (WE WILL TRAIN YOU) Team Parents – assigning game volunteers, assisting coach with communications, updating team page on website Chill Managers – “sideline parents” (FYI - boys chill managers must register on-line with YLM ahead of time) Time Keepers – running the clocks at home games Score Keepers – keeping track of penalties and scores at home games 24 REGULAR SEASON 1 VOLUNTEER NOW VOLUNTEER through TEAM PARENTS

25 2015 Parent Meeting Presentation Volunteering PLANNING COMMITTEE MEMBERS (NOW) Field Coordinator – help organize equipment, tables, chairs, etc. AT THE TOURNAMENTS – 2 shift (4 hours) MINIMUM for EACH family Concessions – selling the food Set-up & Tear Down – tables, tents, chairs, clocks, field markers, etc. Time Keepers – running the clocks #1 Score Keepers – keeping track of penalties and scores 25 PRIOR LAKE TOURNAMENT July 11-12 (Boys & Girls) 2

26 2015 Parent Meeting Presentation 2014 Prior Lake Tournament 2014 was the 7 th Annual Tournament 94 teams (largest youth tournament in MN) Nearly 400 Volunteers 26 Sponsors and 12 Vendors Raised over $13,000 for Prior Lake Lacrosse! 26

Night at Girls Varsity Game- May 12th @ 7:30pm (free admission for PLAY players and coaches in uniform plus Root Beer Floats for girls team members) P.L.A.Y. Night at Boys Varsity Game – May 9 th (free admission for PLAY players and coaches in uniform) All home games are FUN and great for your children to watch! Support your Lakers!
